Dear WORC Partners:

On August 31st, Goodwill of Greater Washington will be assuming many of the functions of Workforce Organizations for Regional Collaboration (WORC).  WORC will fuse with Goodwill in an effort to better serve the community by taking advantage of Goodwill's greater resources and assets. In addition to its existing programs, this enhanced relationship will augment Goodwill's role as a leading regional workforce intermediary supporting the construction, janitorial, retail and banking trades.

WORC provides free capacity building programming to over 1,000 workforce development professionals who train and place tens of thousands of people faced with barriers to employment living in the Greater Washington region.  In 2007, Goodwill provided comprehensive job training to almost 400 individuals while also facilitating their placement into the local workforce.  Last year Goodwill also employed almost 300 people with disabilities or disadvantaging conditions in its diverse business operations.

“The assumption of WORC's mission will amplify Goodwill's support of our community, allowing our organization to significantly increase (directly and indirectly) the number of people of we serve”, said Goodwill's President & CEO Catherine Meloy.  The restructure will be finalized on August 31st
